Blerch Sporting Foundation

Registered Charity Number 1166489

The Blerch Sporting Foundation has been set up in the memory of much loved Mildenhall man Chris "Blerch" Merchant, who sadly died in a tragic accident in July 2015.

His love of life and sport was the inspiration for the charity, and is a legacy to the children of his home town that he loved.

The aim of the charity is to give children aged between 4 and 16 years old, living in Mildenhall and the surrounding villages, the opportunity to try sports for free!

We offer a choice of sporting sessions for children to choose from and they will be given between 3 and 8 totally free sessions, number of free sessions dependant on sport, we hope that when they have participated in their sport that they will then continue to do so independently if they have enjoyed it.

We also offer one off sports events that children registered with us will be given the opportunity to attend, again these are free...We have had a football training day with Cambridge United, a match day experience at Cambridge United's ground where the children had the opportunity to walk around the ground, make the tunnel for the players to come through and watch a match. We have also taken a group to Norwich Ski Centre, where the children had the opportunity to try out skiing, snow boarding and snow tubing! There has also been golf, a fun swim session, goal keeper training with Terry Edwards and go karting!! We have many other plans in the pipeline....

To date, May 2017, we have offered over 150 children their chosen sports and our numbers are rising weekly.
